This vintage tin from the early 1900's holds Empress Brand Robert J. Pierce's Tansy Cotton Root Tablets. Made with natural tansy and cotton root, these tablets were believed to have medicinal benefits for women's health. A unique piece of history for collectors or those interested in traditional medicine remedies. These pills were sold with the promise of relieving menstrual cramps and easing menstrual flows. Around 1920, various regulatory commissions and district courts prohibited the future sale of Pennyroyal products citing fraudulent, false and misleading "misbranding". On June 28, 1921, it was ordered by the court that the Robert Pierce Empress Brand products be destroyed by the US Marshall. Green, Black and Gold Coloring. Condition - Good.
